0:00 Welcome to the League of Women Voters General Election Candidate Forum. My name is Rachel Bancroft and I'm the moderator for this event and a member of the League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan group focused on voter education. Thank you to our candidates for their participation in this event and a special thanks to CVTV for hosting. The forum will be aired on CVTV and online at cvtv.org. The forum for Legislative District 20, Position 1, cannot occur this evening due to candidate availability. We are working on rescheduling that. Our first forum tonight features candidates for the State House of Representatives in the 20th District, Position 2. Joining us are Ed Orcutt and Evan Jones. Welcome to you both.
0:58 Candidates, please watch the League timer and stay within the timelines for each question. You will have 60 seconds to answer each question. You will first answer in the order that you appear on the ballot and we will rotate after that. All questions are prepared by the League of Women Voters of Clark County and we are providing the timers. Candidate Orcutt, we'll begin with you. Please tell us why you want to be a legislator, what skills and abilities you would bring to the job, and your history in the 20th District. What issues most affect your name? Candidate Orcutt: Well, affordability is the one that most affects our neighbors. That's something that I continue to believe we need to do a better job in the state legislature. I've been in the legislature for 25 years now, representing various portions of southwest Washington. I'm in my fifth configuration of a district, so basically most of Clark County and most of Cowlitz County, I think at some point it's been all of Lewis County and a portion of Thurston County.
